I thought it would be interesting to keep a list of birds seen on the
Christmas cards we received. Was anyone else crazy enough to do this? My
list is:

10 Northern Cardinal
2 Black-capped Chickadee
2 Blue Jay
2 Scarlet Tanager
1 Blue Jay
3 White Doves
then I hit the jackpot when we got a card that had a fir tree decorated with
24 different Birds of the World. Brazilian Cardinal, European Goldfinch,
Leadbetter's Cockatoo, Guianan Cock of the Rock, White-winged Crossbill, River
Kingfisher, Bohemian Waxwing, Barn Swallow, Barn Owl, Collared Trogon,
Peregrine Falcon, Apapane, Keel-billed Toucan, Blue-crowned Motmot, Western
Tanager, Hoopoe, Blue Tit, King of Saxony Bird of Paradise, Emperor Penguin,
Green Jay, Golden Pheasant, Arctic Tern, Tufted Puffin and Horned Lark. I
wish I had all of those on my life list.
