Hi Tweeters:

Yesterday birded Fort Flagler beach park at the end of Marrowstone
Island (just east of Port Townsend).

Did not "bag" any new birds, but there is an abundance of birds out there
(and would be especially gratifying for a new birder). Here's a quick
list (no counts):

Harlequins (male and female)
Barrows Goldeneye (male and female)
Common Goldeneye (male and female)
Buffleheads (male and female)
Redbreasted Mergansers (male and female)
Dunlins
Sanderlings
Turnstone (don't have my book with me--identified type but can't recall
off hand)
All three varieties of Scoters
Western grebes

Plus, one seal swimming with just his head up out of the water.

The dunlins, sanderlings and turnstones all cluster at the west (Olympic
Mountain view) tip of the beach. You can get an excellent view of them.

The day, by the way, was gorgeous. All gray skies except a golden gap
over the Olympics--they were out in force.
