Sad to report that the Red-Shouldered Hawk was not found by us on 2/2/97.
Thanks to all those who helped with information on the location just the
same. I think we will make another trip over as I really want to see the
bird. That is, after we head to Idaho next weekend for you know what.

Of other possible interest was a "HARLAN'S HAWK" seen along highway 104
about 2-3 miles west of the Hood canal bridge. It is a very dark bird,
with essentially no white streaking at all, either on head or breast. It
was perched at first look - and thought possibly to be a dark phase
Rough-Legged - that is until it flew. Tail said all.

On the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston there were 2 BONAPARTES GULLS,
(adult-winter) seen about midway accross. Have'nt seen any reports of
same, but being new to the area, am still not certain of what's not
newsworthy this time of year.

A good productive day of birding, except for the disappointing absence of
the Red-Shouldered Hawk.

Thanks again for all the great reports - keep em coming.
