I'm new to this list, so I hope it's OK if I bring up a bird not in the
local area.

I just got back from a trip to Southern Calif. and saw about 25
Red-whiskered Bulbuls in a tree in Huntington Botanical Gardens. Since I
had no idea what they were, and they're native to Asia, it took me awhile
to identify them. Apparently, some have escaped from captivity and
established some populations in the US.

What I'm wondering is, has anyone else seen these birds? Is it rare to see
them?
