I was clearing rubbish from under a stand of douglas firs and cedars on
Saturday when I heard a scratching noise and saw my first Brown Creeper
creeping up one of the Douglas firs. There were a couple other creepers on
other nearby trunks. They stayed in my yard for about 1/2 hour. I also saw a
winter wren in a shrub on the edge of the trees. I see bewicks wrens daily, but
I had never seen a winter wren in my yard. I suspect these birds visit
regularly, but I never see them because the trunks of the trees and the shrubs
are not visible unless you go into the stand of trees due to the branches of
the cedars draping all the way down to ground level. Anyways, I was happy to
add these to my yard list.

Now if I could only get one of those red-breasted sapsuckers into my yard...
