I saw 6 small (starling sized) birds on the breakwater rocks at Shilshole
this morning. Like the Des Moines birds they were just out of comfortable
binocular range, but they were a pale gray with white heads like
miniature gulls. I was unable to determine the leg color or bill color,
but they hugged the rocks pretty closely. They were right at the waters
edge, hopping from boulder to boulder. They looked to be a paler gray
then any of the pictures in my books, but that's not surprising, birds
seldom look like their pictures. I wouldn't even hazard a guess as to
their ID, but since Surfbirds were seen in Des Moines and Alki I thought
it might be a possibility. Any Ideas
