There is a pair of pileated woodpeckers in Terrace Creek Park in
Mountlake Terrace...This park is a pretty good one to check
out the local birds -- It has a nice walking trail, running water,
and except for the play field, is left fairly natural.

I second this notice, but warn you that there's an 18-basket disc golf
course in the park, so objects whizzing through the air can be
dangerous. When I play golf up there (as I do), I take my binocs along
and, uh, score two birdies with one stone, so to speak. It's got some
excellent wren habitat, too, so if you're fond of wrens as I am, it's
a good place to go.
