I checked the weight of 180 siskins from my banding records. The mean =
weight (or is it mass?) of 180 males and females combined (each bird =
weighed to the nearest 0.5g) was 13.38 grams. There are 28.349 grams =
per ounce. As my average Pine Siskin weighs in at a whopping 0.4719 =
ounces, and there are 32,000 ounces in a 2,000-pound ton, there would =
be:

67,797 Pine Siskins in a ton.
