I guess I can say, without hesitation, that I have NEVER seen, even in
sum-total of my lifetime, anything close to a *ton* of Pine Siskins. Can you
get them in just 5 or 10 pound bags? Maybe just a one-pound bag would be OK.
I think that would be roughly 30 - 35 Pine Siskins per pound depending how
many sunflower seeds they've eaten already. I'm kinda crudely doing the math
in my head, and rounding off to two Pine Siskins per ounce.

BTW, there are a few Pine Siskins around the yard here this morning, but the
numbers are probably way too irrelevant in the face of *tons* elsewhere.

Also here this morning, Pileated Woodpeckers (pair) -- to go off a bit on
another thread. That's Eastgate, near 150th & just south of SE Newport Way.
They are rather infrequently seen and heard in winter, tending to roam far
and wide more I guess. They are very conspicuous daily visitors, noisy, and
'destructive' around here every summer, especially late June and July. The
top of the telephone pole in the front yard has just about been reduced to
sawdust. This could be a harbinger of things to come -- like disconnection
from the outside world, the internet, and tweeters. YIKES!! HORRORS!!
Oh! those pesky Pileated's!
