Back in 1978-79 (before the big hurricane a few years ago), I stayed
with my Mother and Step-dad in the South Miami/Coral Gables area:
SW 84th Terr. - just east of of Red Road near Snapper Creek. Red Whiskered
Bulbuls were (and no doubt still are) year round residents of the
neighborhood. Since I no longer have any contacts in the area, I can't check
on the status lately. The area is more reknown for the "Parrot Jungle."
Anyway, I remember them coming punctually to our bird bath, either in a
small (family?) group or singly, at 4 p.m. or so. They were not domineering,
and deferred to the more agressive Mockingbirds and Bluejays.
