I now think that it was a greater yellow leg with red legs
This is mentioned in Dennis Paulson "SHOREBIRDS" book on page 156 that GRYE
can have red legs and in Peter Hayman "SHOREBIRDS" that yellowlegs can have
orange legs. I only had Peterson 3 ed edition with me so did not pay enough
attention to the bill I did not see any thing out of the yellowlegs
standard. The legs sure were a deep dark red, I was only about 25 yards
from it and it was very cooperative for about 20 minute, I was using my
Leupold 12-40x60 very clear. I will now keep My shore bird books in the car
so I will know what to look for.

The bird was seen at low tide at the head of Liberty Bay at the auto Dealer
parking lot and boat launch.
Liberty Bay is in Polsbo in Kitsap county WA.

Three birders went to look for it today with out any success
