Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday February 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

The BLUE JAY, two SCRUB-JAYS, STELLER'S JAY, MOCKINGBIRD, and HARRIS'
SPARROW found last week in the Sherman County town of Moro were seen
through the week-end and are probably still in the area.

The female KING EIDER continues to be seen downstream from the highway
bridge over Yaquina Bay. The YELLOW-BILLED LOON was also reported from
there during the week, but the OLDSQUAWS were not reported. A breeding
plumaged CHIPPING SPARROW is now coming to a feeder in Toledo, east of
Newport.

The SNOWY OWLS continue to be reported from the South Jetty of the Siuslaw
River, at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay, and from the South Jetty of the
Columbia River. The Forest Grove bird has not been seen for over a week.

The BLACK PHOEBE wintering along South Beaver Creek Road, south of Newport,
continues to be seen about a mile and a half south of the junction of South
Beaver Creek and Beaver Creek Roads. The ROSS' GOOSE continues to be seen
on Nestucca Meadow near Pacific City. An EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was
along Fenk Road, west of Tillamook, February 8.

Another EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was on the Pellet Plant Meadow on Sauvie
Island February 9. Two GLAUCOUS GULLS are also in this area. A male
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was at Creekside Marsh in Beaverton February 5. The
two wintering GREAT EGRETS continue to be seen at this marsh.

The first migrant flock of SANDHILL CRANES was observed flying over
Creswell, south of Eugene, February 12. A good number wintered on Sauvie
Island this year. Peak numbers should be seen by late February and into
March.

The WHITE PELICAN continues to be seen on Kirk Pond west of Eugene. On
February 8 several VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were seen flying over the pond. A
ROSS' GOOSE is now being seen along Nielson Road south of Fern Ridge
Reservoir. A PRAIRIE FALCON was nearby February 9.

The HARRIS' SPARROW wintering at a Eugene feeder continues to be seen.

On February 7 three LAPLAND LONGSPURS were observed in flocks of HORNED
LARKS east of Fort Rock in Lake County.

Thats it for this week.
