One of the monthly surveys our Birds in the Balance group of ELWAS does is the
Snoqualmie Valley. We started in Sept. We start just west of Fall City, go
to Twin Rivers GC, then basically taking the closest roads to the east side of
the river going north thru Carnation, then cross over the river and go past
Carnation Farms, Sikes L, up to NE 124th, where we go east back to hwy 203,
then down to MacDonald Park, cross to the west side of the river, go down to
Carnation GC which has some very good bird habitat, and back to Redmond-Fall
City Road. We have map with the route marked on it. We mark areas where we
noted birds and write in info on Survey Forms.

Three of us drove the route on Thurs. We had 41 species in four hours. Birds
of interest included 9 Bald Eagles, 10 Red-tailed Hawks, 22 Mourning Doves, 20
Common Goldeneye, 12 Common Merganser, 61 Green-winged Teal, over 1000
American Wigeon and 1 Eurasian Wigeon (there may have been more, but with so
many wigeon bunched so close together it is hard to check them all out). We
find it interesting that the only place we see the Mourning Doves, and we have
seen some on every trip, is at the valley overlook just south of the Carnation
Farms. There is a heron rookery, or is it more proper to say heronry, that is
visible from this overlook also. Two of the 9 Great Blue Herons we observed
were on nest at the heronry(?)

I do summarize the bird sightings in an Excel spreadsheet. If anyone is
interested in this summary list for the Snoqualmie Valley or any other surveys
I am involved in, I could send the Excel file as an attachment to e-mail to
your personal e-mail address.

I hope this message meets the criteria for "proper english".
