The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or
to listen to the 12 most recent messages, call (206) 454-2662 and follow
the prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before
calling, to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

12:27 p.m. 02-16-97. This is Ken Knittle. In Lewis County, I had a
YELLOW-BILLED LOON on the east side of Rife [sp?] Lake.

8:57 a.m. 02-16-97. Hi, this is Clay Kemp (sp?), and yesterday we had a
couple SNOWY OWLS between Reardon and Davenport. There was also a GRAY
MORPH GYRFALCON on highway 231 just south of Reardon. And, for what it's
worth - I don't know if it is noteworthy here or not, but there was also a
DARK MORPH ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK near where the GYRFALCON was seen. The HAWK
OWL was not seen.

7:44 p.m. 02-15-97. Dave Swayne, 932-6603. This afternoon, Hal Opperman
and I went looking for the LIGHT MORPH GYRFALCON seen near Snohomish a
couple weeks ago. We didn't find the light morph, but we did find a GRAY
MORHPH [GYRFALCON] in the same area, which is about a half mile west of
the airport south of the town. From about a half mile away, this bird
appeared uniformly gray on the head, back and tail, unlike the bird two
weeks ago which had a much lighter head and a completely white tail, with
very light black banding. In addition, since late December there has been
an IMMATURE GOLDEN EAGLE in the valley. It hangs around on a snag, about
a mile south of the town of Lowell. Thanks, good luck

11:05 a.m. 02-15-97. This is Douglas Marshall, 206-270-8960. At about
10:45 this morning, I observed an AMERICAN KESTREL hover-hunting over what
will become the Innerbay Golf Course, just west of the intersection of
15th Ave. W and Gilman. Good luck and good birding.
