Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday February 20. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

The BLUE JAY, MOCKINGBIRD, and HARRIS' SPARROW continue to be found in the
Central Oregon town of Moro. The STELLER'S JAY and up to five or six
SCRUB-JAYS were also seen in Moro over the week-end.

The KING EIDER is still being seen at Yaquina Bay. The SNOWY OWL remains in
the dunes south of the Yaquina Bay Jetty. There are indications that two
birds might be involved. At least two SNOWY OWLS are still at the South
Jetty of the Columbia River.

The February 15 offshore boat trip out of Depoe Bay found few birds, but a
probable FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER was observed.

A BLUE-WINGED TEAL, a CINNAMON TEAL, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and an EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL were along Fenk Road near Tillamook February 15. A TREE
SWALLOW and a SWAMP SPARROW were near the Astoria Airport February 17.

SANDHILL CRANES and CANADA GEESE are now building numbers on Sauvie Island.
Good numbers of BALD EAGLES are also on the island now. A TREE SWALLOW was
noted there February 18. Some VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS and a HARLAN'S
RED-TAILED HAWK were on Ridgefield NWR February 16. A TURKEY VULTURE was
over Mulino February 19.

The wintering CATBIRD in Corvallis and the Peoria BLACK PHOEBE continue to
be seen. A SWAMP SPARROW was found February 19 along Greenhill Road near
Fern Ridge Reservoir. The WHITE PELICAN is still at Kirk Pond west of
Eugene and on February 15 a PACIFIC LOON was on the pond. A PRAIRIE FALCON
was at Creswell February 14.

A SAY'S PHOEBE was at Moro and another was at Hatfield Lake near Bend
February 16. Blackbirds are now moving back on territory at Barnes Butte
Lake north of Prineville, including two TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS.

Two GREATER SCAUP were on Hatfield Lake, two RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and a
RED-THROATED LOON were at the mouth of Hood River, and a TREE SWALLOW was
at the mouth of the Deschutes River February 16. Reports indicated a major
hawk movement through Central Oregon during the past week.

Thats it for this week.
