Hi Tweets - this is a little late, but a couple of friends and I were up
on the Samish on Monday, 17 February, and we had six Snowy Owls near the
Samish River mouth. The birds were to the south of the bridge over the
river, and at least while we were there were all east of the river.
Mostly perched along the dike, but sometimes moved onto logs or old
pilings in the river. Also had a great look at a Peregrine Falcon,
several Rough-legged Hawks, and approximately 40 Eurasian Wigeon in a
flock of about 120 American Wigeon in the wet area northwest of the West
90.
Further south we had a roadside look at a perched Merlin. Stayed put for
us for about 5 minutes. Gorgeous views like that make the day even if
nothing else goes right.
