What are good basic NW birding books?

I have the Audobon society western birds.

I'd particularly like a book with details on constructing boxes and feeding
and improving bird habitat. (Downloaded nest information somebody posted)

Also, 2 birds I can't figure out from the audobon book: a pair of large
hawks nesting or just perching near the top of a very tall old fir-
overlooking meadow. Slightly larger than red-tails, wings slimmer than
sharp-shinned, evenly mottled whitish-grayish from below- no clear banding-
they looked most like the rough-shinned hawks in the book, a pair passing
through on their way north? Some sharp cries when one bird came and went
from the tree.
