TWEETERS -

Finally, some signs of Spring in New England! On Sunday 2/16, my brother
Ron & I found a singing song sparrow on the coast, and a silent
red-winged blackbird. Yesterday afternoon 2/22, the "neighborhood
bullies" (common grackles) were found on my street. Can "my" mockingbird
be far behind? I can't wait to hear which songs and sounds he's learned
this past winter. Hurrah for Spring!

Perhaps the comet I saw in the ENE sky at 4:45 this morning is an omen of
warmer days. Comet Hale-Bopp was definitely a spectacular sight, even
from my light-polluted skies! I urge all nature lovers to get up early
and see this wonder.

Dawn is pale gold and mauve over the Gulf.
Silent silhouettes of pelicans sail across the sky,
Like sailing ships in a dream.
The egret dances.
