Hello tweeters,
A few kids in our class along with Dean did a rapter census on February
15th. It was my first time and I was amazed at the amount of Red-tailed
Hawks (RTHA) there were. Here are the totals we had for the census alone.
9:00 to 11:00 AM
5 Adult Red-tailed Hawks
8 Adult Bald Eagles
1 Sub-adult Bald Eagle
1 Adult Northern Harrier
1 Immature Rough-legged Hawk
1 Immature Sharp-shinned Hawk
1 Immature Coopers Hawk
18 total

Everyone met at the Padilla Bay Center to add up our totals. We all
discussed the rare sightings of the day. Some people mentioned to be
careful not to interfere with the Birds or the people that live where
you bird.

We had route 7 and we saw 2 Song Sparrows up close. They had a nest.
We also spotted 6 Snowy Owls. I was amazed at the range of Rapters that
we saw. We also saw Great Blue Herons in all directions. We got
a scope on many Pintails in a pond, I think they are very beautiful birds.
