Tweeters,

Does anyone have an idea of the number of orange-crowned warblers
over-wintering in the Puget Sound region?

There is one that visits my yard irregularly. I first noticed it in
early
January, and have seen it every other weekend or so since then.
This last Sunday, with the sun and all, I had some great views of
the flashing orange crown. These birds raise and lower their crown
feathers (what is the appropriate terminology for the feathers on top
of the head?) frequently; and they don't sit still for long! Not quite
as
hyper-active as a ruby-crowned kinglet, but close.

They certainly brighten up the yard, especially on the more typical
gray days that we have.
