I've been ignoring this whole thread because I couldn't understand any of
it. But it seems to have started with a comment of mine, and I want to
be sure everyone understands what I said. Since I'm a recreational
birder myself, I certainly did not pan that activity. What I did pan is
the activity of mindlessly trying to build long lists of birds seen, with
little or no concern for enjoying the birds aesthetically or learning
about their natural history. So if you guys want to attack me for
something, attack me for something I _did_ say, not for something I
_didn't_ say.
