Actually, it's a bit early for sharpies to be migrating. Portland's full
of wintering sharpies, and I suspect that for some reason he just happened
to notice some this week. It may be, as songbirds are beginning to sing
and change behavior, sharpies change their foraging behavior as well making
them show up in places they've not been seen earlier this winter.

It is, though, time to start planning your visits to Cape Flattery!
