Apparently the hawk migration is in progress. I had three different Sharp
Shinned hawks visit over the weekend, much to the chagrin of the local small
birds. I know they were different birds because of the size disparity. The
one on Saturday was remarkably small, about the size of a Kestrel. I had
good views from as close as four feet while he chased a Junco around the
front porch. He rested on the porch railing for several minutes much too
close to focus binoculars. I didn't realize that Sharp Shinned hawks could
be this small.
