The American White Pelican continues between Vancouver and Vancouver
Lake. Take Fourth Plain west from I-5 and go through town. Look for
the large barn on the north side (right) of the road. Afetr this barn,
there is a large pond/flooded field/lake on the north side of the road;
it has high tension towers in the middle of it and a small heronry on the
NW end.
The pelican was moving on the northern edges of this watery
mass. I missed it twice as it was swimming on this edge. It was
scopable with care. Hopefully it'll be closer if you head out there. I
saw it for about 5 minutes at 9 am Monday 1/6. RK
