Thanks to everyone who sent me suggestions/comments on what scope to
buy. I ended up getting a Kowa 60mm scope (non-ED glass) with a 20-60mm
zoom lens (that's made for the 80mm scope, but the lenses are
interchangable). I have a full field of view (wearing glasses) from
20-40mm. Put it to good use last weekend looking at 6 different snowy
owls at Leadbetter Point State Park. Anyone that ventures out to see
the owls will probably want to walk out to the point staying on the east
side of the peninsula, unless you are willing to wade through thigh-deep
water on the blue trail that goes over to the ocean (west) side. I
didn't think water could feel that cold (screaming seemed to help). Your
legs eventually go numb and then it's not so bad.
