SAS RBA for 8 January 1997:

Highlights of the Bridgeport Christmas Bird Count on the 4th were
38 SHARP-TAILED GROUSE, a YELLOW-BILLED LOON, 2 GOS-
HAWKS, 900 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, and 200 GRAY-CROWNED
ROSY FINCHES.

Three WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were at the Skagit Game
Range boat launch parking lot on the 8th. Also present in the Skagit/
Samish area are 5 species of falcon, TRUMPETER and TUNDRA
SWANS, gobs of SNOW GEESE, hordes of DUNLIN, and at least
11 SNOWY OWLS.

An AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was seen at Sauvie Island near
Portland on the 7th. It was seen near the pellet plant. Possibly the
same bird was at Vancouver Lake the day before.

Two SNOWY OWLS were seen at the Nisqually National Wildlife
Refuge on the 6th. They were in the tide flats north of the dike.

Two Idaho birds of interest are a SIBERIAN ACCENTOR near Ket-
chum, reported through the 5th, and a NORTHERN CARDINAL in
Lewiston, reported through the 6th. Call the Idaho Hotline for details
