Hi tweets,
Barry Levine asked where he might look for Pygmy Owls
in the puget sound area. I would suggest trying the Soos Creek
trail east of Renton-Kent. One was seen well Thanksgiving day
near where 240th St crosses the trail. Un-ID'd calling owls
have been reported around there as well, perhaps Pygmy.
A dead Pygmy Owl was found near Ravensdale east of kent
a couple of months ago and one was reported from maple Valley
around the same time. I get all the reports from Rainier Audubon
Society members for the bird sightings column i write for the
newsletter - one of the perks of the job is getting first
word. I realize the owl sightings are a little dated but there
are definitely more reports this year than previously and I bet
there are still quite a few around.
Good Luck!
