I have used the email address four times to report banded birds in the
past year. In each case, the response, a certificate of appreciation with
details on the banding, took about two months to arrive. The only personal
contact I had was when I failed to provide complete information on the
first report. The request to "fill" missing data came within a couple of
days.
I don't think the BBL folks intend to ignore any report. I would not be
surprised if they regularly encounter reporting parties whose expectations
on response time are higher than merited.
