SLATER MUSEUM LECTURE AND OPEN HOUSE

The First Slater Museum Lecture presents *Dr. Norman Myers*,
internationally renowned environmentalist, who will speak on *biodiversity
and extinction*.

PLACE: 126 Thompson Hall, University of Puget Sound campus.

TIME: 4 p.m., Thursday, *20 February 1997*

Dr. Myers lectures at universities and consults with governmental
orgnaizations all over the world. He has written 10 books and hundreds of
articles on the environment, its problems and solutions, and is a
captivating lecturer. The present lecture is sponsored by the Slater
Museum, Biology Department, Science Seminar, Geology Department, and Phi
Sigma.

The Slater Museum of Natural History (206-756-3798) at UPS is holding an
open house to accompany Dr. Myers' lecture. The museum, in Thompson 337,
will be open to the public from 6-9 p.m. on 20 February and from 9 a.m.-5
p.m. on Friday, 21 February. Come see the museum's extensive
natural-history collections, including birds, mammals, reptiles,
amphibians, vascular plants and others.

To reach the campus, exit I-5 at highway 16 to Bremerton and Gig Harbor, at
the south end of Tacoma. Almost immediately, exit highway 16 at Union
Avenue. Head north on Union for about 2 miles, looking for the only large
campus building on your right, Thompson Hall (at 15th). Street parking
available.
