While "olympic gull" might be a catchier name for these W x GW hybrids,
why invent a new name when many birders are already using "puget sound

It seems to me if a term already exists, we should just use it.

So now for another two cents worth .... :) :)

It was my understanding of the original post that
the suggestion only involved the specific hybrid
GW x Western gulls, and not the various other
hybrids, such as Western x Herring, Glaucous x GW,
etc., etc., etc., wh/ would (perhaps) qualify
as 'Puget Sound gulls' -- unless one were west of
Grays Hbr or elsewhere out of Puget Sound
seeing some of these grayish animals.
Also, of course, Puget Sound gulls (a phrase I at
least had not heard before as designating these or
others) would include other species besides just
the large ones under discussion (as listed on the
WOS card, or by AOU, etc.)...

I like Olympic Gull as a designation for this
particular hybrid, and if Brewster's Wahbler can
persist for this long, why not Olympic Gull
into the next century (at least)?

(Another two cents is added)
