3:01PM, January 14 - Hi, this is Greg Toffic with a belated report from
yesterday morning from Fir Island where at about 11 o'clock I saw a gray
phase Gyrfalcon fly south of Fir Island Road across the fields between Wylie
Road and Mann Road fairly close to the headquarters of the Skagit River
Recreation Area. Thank you.

8:00AM January 16 - This is Evelyn Peaslee at 782-9018. I just had a call
from a friend on Queen Anne Hill that she can see a Great Horned Owl on the
east side of Camille(sp) Park. It might be of interest to someone. She lives
at 6th Ave. West and West Olympic Place on the east side of the Park and the
owl is sitting up there being harassed by crows. Thank you.

2:51PM January 16 - Hi, this is Greg calling (!?) and at Ocean Shores,
actually just going to Ocean Shores, 109 there on the right hand side going
towards Ocean Shores at Ocean City SP where the ponds are along the roadside
there, were 5 Trumpeter Swans. That was January 14 around noon. Bye.

7:46PM January 16 - This is Tom Aversa. I just want to let you know that the
adult Red-shouldered Hawk is still in the same place it was seen two weeks
ago. This morning I saw the bird between 8 and 9 AM which was almost the same
time I saw it last time. It was visible right from Three Crabs Road, probably
about a mile down from the Three Crabs Restaurant. It's a nice adult. It was
flying around. It likes to perch, seemingly up in those poplar type trees.
It's up and down. If you wait long enough around that time it will probably
come out. And there was also a Rough-leg in the area and a White-throated
Sparrow also 8 Evening Grosbeaks. Thanks. And by the way, that's at Sequim.
It's down at Dungeness.
[transcribers note: We locals have spent a fair amount of time looking for
the Red-shouldered Hawk and the Gyrfalcon seen earlier without luck. The
Fletchers live at 730 Three Crabs Road (yellow house on your right) 683-1958.
They are feeding and have banded the White-throat and the Rough-legged Hawk
has been spending nights in the conifer across the street. Jack has
occasional access to the property with the poplar like trees (alders). He
invites anyone birding in the area to drop by to find out what has been seen
and requests if something good is seen to drop by so the word can be spread
through our local hotline. Sometimes banana bread is served].

8:56PM, January 16 - This is Mark Cirone(sp) in Tacoma (206) 756-0215. On the
13th just north of Woodland off the Dike Access Road was a Great Egret.
That's DeLorme page 32, A2. It's about half way around the Dike Access Loop
Road. It was out in the field feeding. And on the 14th just to confirm what
Bruce LaBar said, the Little Gull was still at American Lake. If you're
trying to get there, you want to take the Thorn Drive Exit to American Lake.
Also, of note, out there was a Red-throated Loon and Common Loon. Thank you.
