Hi Tweets -

Yesterday, Saturday 18 Jan 97, at approximately 12:30 p.m. a Seattle
Audubon trip located the Red-shouldered Hawk in the Dungeness area. At
that time it was perched on the crossarm of a telephone pole just east
(about 100 ft.) of Sequim-Dungeness Way and approximately 2-300 feet
south of the intersection with the Three Crabs road. Beautiful classical
Red-shouldered Hawk with many white spots on back and wings. After
observing for about seven(?) minutes the bird flew generally toward the
southeast into and around a large group of willows and out of sight.
During flight the "red shoulders" could be observed nicely and the
underwing pattern was also visible, including the lighter areas of the
"windows" out in the primaries if the bird had been higher and backlit.
Needless to say a real treat for all observers.
