Yesterday I emerged from Border's Books in Tacoma and noticed a crow-sized
bird sitting in a nearby fir. As I studied it I knew there was something
different about it. It had its back to me so I couldn't make out the
profile. It was smallish-looking for a crow.

When I got to the car, I swiftly whipped out the Swift's and espied the bold
head markings of a Peregrine Falcon. It sat calmly surveying the area,
occasionally preening or ruffling its feathers, for the fifteen or so
minutes I sat in my car watching it.

I'm sure it was irritating to the people cruising the lot looking for the
rare parking space. Tough. I don't get to see Peregrine Falcons every day!
