Just a "heads up" for those of you who may not have noticed:

KCTS Channel 9, the Seattle PBS station, now carries "Oregon Field Guide,"
produced by OPB in Portland. The program airs on Tuesday nights at 7:30 PM,
and I can't recommend it highly enough. Each week the program covers three
topics of interest to residents of the Northwest, particularly
outdoor/nature-lovers. Tonight's program, for example, featured: Cascade
volcanos and the possibility of debris flows [sorry -- I missed almost all
of this part and messed up the VCR so can't tell if I have the precise
topic]; the people and equipment used to keep the Columbia dredged for
shipping traffic; and the _Oregon Wildlife Viewing Guide_, showing three
sites selected from the book and telling how to find the book. Good
photography and fascinating topics are the rule.

This is an outstanding program I enjoyed when I lived in Vancouver,
Portland and Corvallis, and one I missed when I moved north again. I am
still an OPB member, and the fact that KCTS-9 has chosen to air the program
up here is more incentive to me (speaking personally) to consider
supporting the local PBS station.
