I saw two Scaled Quail at the Crab Cr / Beverly site
in 1978 or 1979 -- one of them an imm. -- found many
tracks in the area, over a three-day period. There
was a report in Am Birds a couple-three yrs before
that. I didn't have a chance for photos -- too fast --
and the one report from AmB specifically noted that
attempts at photography failed.

Perhaps if I had taken my plaster-cast kit along ... ;-)
