Can't answer the D-con question. Many rodenticides are anti-coagulants
that inhibit blood clotting when taken over long periods of time.
The claim is that predators, therefore, won't be affected by one
or two dead victims. Don't know the current composition of D-con, though.

However, there is a simple non-toxic alternative: rat traps and clean
cages.
