9:28 a.m. January 24th - Hi. Dave Lauten and Kathy Castelein at
206-706-0666. Went up to Samish Flats yesterday the 23rd, and the
[WESTERN] SCRUB-JAY remains at 1134 Bayview-Edison Ave., six SNOWY OWLS
remain at the West 90, and an immature dark-phase GYRFALCON was sitting on
a telephone pole along the West 90 east of Bayview-Edison Road, where it
turns north towards Samish Bay. Good luck and happy birding!

1:23 p.m. January 24th - This is Ruth Taylor with a request from the
Falcon Research Group. Over the past couple of years Falcon Research
Group has banded approximately 40 PEREGRINE FALCONS in western Washington,
and we're trying to find out where some of these birds are. All these
birds are double-banded with an aluminum U. S. Fish and Wildlife band on
one leg and a black band with two white letters on the other. Usually one
of these letters is horizontal and the other is vertical. If you see a
double-banded peregrine, please try to read those letters, and the
important thing is to get the letter position in relation to the band, and
an example of that would be a horizontal P over a vertical E. Call us and
we can tell you the bird's history. For sightings outside the greater

wanted to pass along a second-hand report from the Oregon hotline that
there was an immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK at Ridgefield refuge near
Vancouver, Washington, on January 18th. If there are any more details on
