On June 19, Tony Greager discovered a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at the Midway
Power Station near Vernita and on June 27, Bill and Nancy LaFramboise found
a second mockingbird at the same location, indicating possible nesting.

On June 23, Charlotte Reep reported a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE in her Pasco yard.

On June 28, Ruth Fischer listed the following birds in or near her Richland
yard: A WESTERN SCREECH-OWL calling in the night from the Chamna Preserve
on June 18-21; newly fledged CEDAR WAXWINGS on June 25; male and female
BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRDS daily from June 21; a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE on June
27; and a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD on June 28.

On June 24, I found a very early southbound LEAST SANDPIPER at one of the
ponds off Dodd-Iowa Beef Road (off Rt 12 near the Wallula Pulp Mill).

Warren Hall and Jim Acton of Spokane observed a family of LONG-EARED OWLS
and a BARN OWL in some trees to the west of the Langguth Winery along
Highway 24 in Grant county on June 27. See DeLorme Atlas page 52, C-3.

The Walla Walla Delta yielded an adult PEREGRINE FALCON and several WESTERN
SANDPIPERS to Mike and MerryLynn Denny on June 28.

On June 29, Dennis and Glenda Rockwell found a GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 3 LEAST
SANDPIPERS, and a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER along the shoreline adjacent to the
Whitcomb Island causeway in southern Benton county.

Carol and Ron Louderback reported a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH in their Kennewick
yard on June 30.

For golfing birders who play the Horn Rapids course, Jim Gamin reports a
family of at least 4 BURROWING OWLS about 40 yards to the right of the 12th tee.

Lastly, Ruth Fischer just called in her sighting of 2 CLARK'S GREBES and 15
WESTERN GREBES on the Yakima Delta today.
