Columbia Estuary Report - 7/6/97

I checked out the high tide spots this afternoon. As expected, there
were more people than birds, but I did find reasonable numbers. A
adult PEREGRIN FALCON made a very good, though unsuccessful effort at
one of two WHIMBREL there. 9 WAPITI were in the dunes distracting the
tourists.

In "Warrenton," the PIED-BILLED GREBES reported nesting last year have
apparently brought off at least to youngster this year. A pair of
CINNAMON TEAL (the male in eclipse plumage) where there as well.
