Yes, Phoebe is still alive and birding. Her name is spelled Snetsinger and
is in the ABA Directory. She has had malignant melanoma. She has birded
all over the world. I don't remember if she has seen 6000 or 7000 species.
"Birding" published an essay by Phoebe entitled "Birding on Borrowed Time"
several years ago. I have also seen articles about her in other magazines
and newspapers--sorry, don't remember whch ones--possibly "Outside" for
one.

She and I started birding about the same time in St. Louis almost 30 years
ago, but she has far surpassed me and almost everyone else. She's an
excellent birder--really researches for her trips--and a wonderful person.
