Another cloudy, drizzly day. :( Still, we had a few interesting sightings.

The three young Bald Eagles are nearing full size, and look like they will
fledge within a couple of weeks. They are fully feathered, and at least one
of them has begun some fairly spastic wing flapping. No sign of the adults
today.

There were 50-100 Black Swifts, mostly out by the lake. It seems to me we
have seen BLSW quite often this year.

We watched a female Belted Kingfisher catch a bullfrog tadpole (yea!)

We saw Warbling Vireo - I believe there were two adults, and there was
definitely one recently fledged young with them. I have often seen first-year
WAVI later in the fall, but this is the closest I have had to evidence of
breeding in the park.

Near the west end of the boardwalk, we saw a pair of Yellow Warbler, acting
like they had a nest with young nearby. The female kept bringing food to the
same shrub, but we could not find the nest. This is the first evidence I have
seen of breeding yellows in the park.

Finally, several species were acting like they may be preparing for second
broods. We saw what looked like display behavior from male Common
Yellowthroat, Marsh Wren, American Goldfinch, and possibly Savannah Sparrow.
