Hi Tweets,

As well as the Black Phoebe this evening, another very unexpected (and
*very* rare for Vancouver BC in July) bird was an adult *Lincoln's Sparrow*,
probably a busted non-breeder.

For shorebirds, there were godzillions of Western Sandpipers came bombing in
tonight on the rising tide, crowding onto the logbooms on the North Arm of
the Fraser River to the N of the settling ponds to roost for 30 minutes,
then all four settling ponds to feed. It was pretty nuts: there could have
been a dozen each Little and Red-necked Stints in those flocks, and I was
the only person there all evening until my call brought the phoebe-hunters.
Embarrassment of riches.

Conditions: Temp: 18-20 C, dropping; Wind: S 15 km/hr to SE 20-25 km/hr;
Barom: weak High; Cloud: 8/10, increasing as a bloody great cumulonimbus
cell crossed over Georgia Strait toward the Mainland; Visibility: unlimited
except where obscured across the Strait by local squalls; Precip: trace;
Tide: half-flood to high.

Incomplete count, curtailed by weather.
