Sightings for Thursday, July 10th

There was an unconfirmed report of a BLACK PHOEBE seen at Iona near the
NE sewage lagoon. Further information on this sighting is desired.

In an out of town report, a breeding plumage HORNED PUFFIN was observed
for at least 4 hours off Green Point Campgrounds, Long Beach National Park
on
the west coast of Vancouver Island.

In Pitt Meadows 2.2 km south of Grant Narrows were 4 GRAY CATBIRDS, a
possible family group, 1 BULLOCK'S ORIOLE and 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS.
Another GRAY CATBIRD and BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were at the head of the
Nature Dike at Grant Narrows R.P. Also 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen
along Neaves Rd. N. of the Swaneeset Golf Course.

Wednesday, July 9th

Four BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and 16 HARLEQUIN DUCKS were counted
on a bird survey of the Bird & Grebe Islets off West Vancouver.

A GREAT HORNED OWL was seen perched on a telephone pole on 12th St.
across from the Beach Grove G&CC Club House.

Tuesday, July 8th

Two BRANT were sighted from the Tsawwassen Jetty north of the toll booth.

Monday, July 7th

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen in False Creek in the
company of a large group of CANADA GEESE.

Sunday, July 6th

A BLACK OYSTERCATCHER was reported from the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

At Iona were a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS,
a PEREGRINE and large flock of WESTERN SANDPIPERS.

Two TURKEY VULTURES and 2 LAZULI BUNTINGS were observed at North
Vancouver's Inter River Park.

The 2 female PURPLE MARTINS were again reported at Maplewood Flats.

A CRESTED MYNA was seen near the intersection of Hudson and Marine Dr. in
Vancouver.

The Grant Narrows area in Pitt Meadows was the location for 2 BULLOCK'S
ORIOLES. 2.2 Km south of this location were 2 GRAY CATBIRDS, 2
BULLOCK'S ORIOLES and an EASTERN KINGBIRD.

An OSPREY and 2 PILEATED WOODPECKER were reported NW of Lougheed
Mall in Burnaby.

Saturday, July 5th

On a rain shortened VNHS outing at Colony Farm in Port Coquitlam were 1
GREEN HERON and 2 WESTERN KINGBIRDS.

Friday, July 4th

Two immature BARRED OWLS were observed in Crescent Park in south
Surrey.

A group of 10 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen over Ambleside Park in
West Vancouver and another group of 6 were over 72nd and 112th in Delta.

Thursday, July 3rd

A male & female LAZULI BUNTING were seen at Colony Farm. The 2
WESTERN KINGBIRDS were at there usual location tending their nest on the
first tower.
