The Washington Ornithological Society would like to see the BirdBox

11:31pm, July 9 - Hi! George Gurt reporting a rare bird found on the Port
Townsend to Keystone ferry run. We were chasing after Paul Lehman's
YELLOW-BILLED LOON and found ...(?) The bird was seen about halfway
across the ferry run, lifted off the water and we watched it for about a
minute and a half as it headed south and finally landed on the water as
the ferry steamed out of sight. The YELLOW-BILLED LOON was not seen at
Swantown today July 9th. Thanks. Good luck finding it.

Listening to that report, the bird that was seen was a MANX SHEARWATER.

7:33pm July 10 This is Patrick Sullivan along with Ruth Sullivan from
Tacoma WA, (253) 564-7419. Reporting from Ocean Shores and vicinity. At
the Point Brown Jetty one MANX SHEARWATER was observed at 2:50pm flying
east towards the Ocean Shores game range from the Point Brown Jetty. Other
birds noted included 1 CASSIN'S AUKLET and 2 WANDERING TATTLERS. Good
numbers of shorebirds in the Ocean Shores vicinity included 850
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 75 MARBLED GODWITS and 30 WHIMBRELS at Bill's
Spit just east of Ocean Shores. At Damon Point up to 12 RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE and 5 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were observed along with two
AMERICAN PIPITS. 4 additional LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were observed at the
Ocean Shores sewage pond. Thank you. Good luck and good birding.

8:27 am July 11 This is Ruth Sullivan from Tacoma, Washington. The report
that Patrick Sullivan reported yesterday there was one particular species
missing. There were 14 REDKNOTS on Bill's Spit. Some of them are still in
bright breeding plumage and some of them are very pale. Thank you. Bye.
