update.

The Rare Bird alert continues for a BLACK PHOEBE and out of town a BROAD-
TAILED HUMMINGBIRD.

Sightings for Friday, July 11th

The BLACK PHOEBE was seen most of the day in bushes on the west side of
the NW sewage lagoon at Iona. The bird is spending most of his time on the
lagoon side of the bushes and is moving in the bushes mainly from 2 to 4
feet up
from the surface of the lagoon. Also at Iona were 2 PHALAROPES.

A BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD has been reported coming to a feeder near
Princeton, B.C. The bird visited several feeders sporadically during the
day. The
bird was 10km East of Princeton on the Old Hedley Rd. at a house on the
north
side of the road. This house has bird feeders in the front yard and the
hummingbird feeders are visable from the front. For further information the

A single BRANT and 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were at their usual
location off the Tsawwassen Jetty.

Five SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were reported near the foot of 12th St. in
Tsawwassen.

Thursday, July 10th

The BLACK PHOEBE was located at Iona in the same location as observed
today.

In an out of town report, a breeding plumage HORNED PUFFIN was observed
for at least 4 hours off Green Point Campgrounds, Long Beach National Park
on
the west coast of Vancouver Island.

In Pitt Meadows 2.2 km south of Grant Narrows were 4 GRAY CATBIRDS, a
possible family group, 1 BULLOCK'S ORIOLE and 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS.
Another GRAY CATBIRD and BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were at the head of the
Nature Dike at Grant Narrows R.P. Also 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen
along Neaves Rd. N. of the Swaneeset Golf Course.

Wednesday, July 9th

Four BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and 16 HARLEQUIN DUCKS were counted
on a bird survey of the Bird & Grebe Islets off West Vancouver.

A GREAT HORNED OWL was seen perched on a telephone pole on 12th St.
across from the Beach Grove G&CC Club House.

Tuesday, July 8th

Two BRANT were sighted from the Tsawwassen Jetty north of the toll booth.

Monday, July 7th

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen in False Creek in the
company of a large group of CANADA GEESE.

Sunday, July 6th

A BLACK OYSTERCATCHER was reported from the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

At Iona were a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS,
a PEREGRINE and large flock of WESTERN SANDPIPERS.

Two TURKEY VULTURES and 2 LAZULI BUNTINGS were observed at North
Vancouver's Inter River Park.

The 2 female PURPLE MARTINS were again reported at Maplewood Flats.

A CRESTED MYNA was seen near the intersection of Hudson and Marine Dr. in
Vancouver.
