Status of the vireo formerly known as the "Solitary" vireo: According to
information given in our recent Univ of Maine Warbler Workshop held at
Machias and surrounds, Maine, this species is being split into three new
species. The eastern USA form is to be known as the "Blue-headed" vireo.
The more western and/or coastal forms will be known as "Plumbeous" and
"Cassin's", I believe. If anyone has confirming information about the
western common names, please comment. And, the new Blue-headed vireo
species became a life bird on my recent Maine trip; since I'd never seen
the species back east, it was a "real" life bird anyway.

At any rate, Jason can list his two Solitary vireos as two separate
species.
What a lazy summer Sunday, today,
