Jim Ganley and I completed the July monthly survey of Medina on Friday.
Without all the usual waterfowl, the species list was only 32. June was the
only month with a lower count of 27. We did have 4 new species for this
year: Black-headed Grosbeak, White-crowned Sparrow, Cedar Waxwing (an
immature waiting to be fed, but didn't see any adults), and Common
Yellowthroat. There is one American Coot that has been present at the Medina
Park ponds for the past three months. A muskrat was seen swimming across the
north pond.

Also a Canada Goose with a severely injured left leg at the Clyde Beach dock.
Its right leg had a band which said "Bird" on first line, "Washington" on
second line and the number "828-87" on third line. The last number could
have been 828-81. Does anyone know the significance of the band?
