I've consistently seen black scoters during winter on Whidbey Island around Penn
Cove, north of Coupeville, in the vicinity of the floating mussel platform
thingys, whatever they are called that they grow the mussels on (does anyone
know what these things are called?), and slightly north of there. I've also
seen them on one of the ponds located across the street (west) from the
southwest corner Crockett Lake, directly west of Coupeville heading south,
before you enter Admirals Cove, immediately adjacent to Puget Sound, separated
by rip rap/jetty. You can drive you car right up to the pond on the road that
goes past the Port Townsend ferry.

Hi Tweets-

A friend is entering the duck stamp competition and will be doing black
scoters. She asked me where she could view them. I have seen them at
Neah Bay in April and other places in the winter.

Does anyone know of any reliable sites this time of year?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
