the Ecola Point,Ecola State Park, Clatsop Co., OR
17 July 1997 - 0900 to 1000

Tide: out going
Weather: mostly cloudy with haze
Wind southwest at 5-10mph; Temp 60F

Method: One hour (timed) station count from observation deck at Ecola
Point using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting rocks, sitting
on ocean.

NOTES: COMMON MURRES were showing the same kind of generally northward movements
reported yesterday from SJCR. There was good movement back toward rocks
with many individuals carrying food. A single PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER flew
by at about 0950hr. Strong northerly movement Of HEERMANN'S GULLS also
noted
