An excellent day today - over 40 species, finally some nice weather, and some
nice sightings too!

The three young Bald Eagles have moved out of the nest to nearby branches.

We saw an adult and a small black baby Virginia Rail, in the slough near the
parking lot. Based on the date, I presume this to be a second brood.

We saw three flycatcher species - Western Wood-pewee, Willow, and
Pacific-slope. Of the latter, we saw an adult and a juvie, looking exactly
like the pictures in the NGS guide.

Swainson's Thrushes were abundant, with many juvies visible. The young ones
were very recognizable, having buffy spots (about 3/16" in diameter) on the
tops of their heads and on their backs. The primary shafts were very orangy
too.

Near where we had seen Yellow Warblers last week we found the female feeding a
cowbird :( However, we also found the male feeding a young yellow warbler
with brilliant yellow tail spots, and lots of fuzz :) This is the first
evidence we've had of successful Yellow Warbler breeding in the park.

Other notable sightings were a single Spotted Sandpiper, a male Western
Tanager, and many young swallows (Tree, VG, and Barn).
